College Counseling
The Spire School's post secondary planning begins in 9th grade. Our team works with our students to ensure they are enrolled in academic classes that will prepare them for the educational challenges of post-secondary education. Throughout a student's time at Spire, they will participate in assessments and inventories that will help them to identify their social, emotional, and academic strengths and needs to help them on their personal journey.
College counseling is offered to all seniors and second-semester juniors, seeking post-high school education, vocational opportunities, and/or gap year programs. The program is designed to help students identify and clarify their interests and goals and to find the appropriate paths for their individualized journeys. Our college counselors also provide support to parents and families, as they navigate this process.
Along the way our counselors and faculty, support students in:
-
Standardized Test Planning (including Accommodations Requests, as needed)
-
The College Application Process (including Personal Essay and Supplement Preparation)
-
Course Selection and Academic Planning for High School and Beyond
-
The Senior Seminar course, which focuses on the ‘ins and outs’ of applying to college and provides support when navigating all parts of post-secondary planning.
-
The Senior Internship Program allows students to further develop their interests, passions and ability to thrive in a real work environment.
-
Key Executive Functioning Skills: time management, organization, task initiation, planning, and prioritizing.
