After 17 years with Greenwich Education Group, I will be transitioning out of my role as Chief Administrator & Executive Director of The Spire School on August 29th, 2025. As I prepare for this next chapter, I am filled with gratitude for the students, families, and colleagues who have made these years so meaningful. I’d like to highlight some of the incredible work we’ve achieved together.
I first joined Spire as a life coach during its opening year in 2010. That experience gave me a deep understanding of our students’ needs and shaped the way I approached academic instruction, clinical support, and leadership. From the beginning, my goal was to create a school where academic learning, emotional support, and social growth worked hand in hand. Together, we built a unique hybrid model that brings the passion of skilled educators and the expertise of school counselors and clinical social workers under one roof, offering students both therapeutic care and guidance in executive functioning, vocational skills, and life readiness. Through robust academic programming and foundational emotional and social skill development, students are poised for success. This model has served hundreds of students in our community, preparing them for meaningful and successful lives.
I’m especially proud of several notable achievements that took the full team to accomplish in an effort to best serve students:
NEASC Accreditation & CT State Approval –Our accreditation and APSEP status was instrumental in opening doors for more students and strengthening partnerships with districts.
Distributed Leadership Model – We created a collaborative structure with administration, lead teachers, life coaches, and college guidance staff, balancing efficiency with personal connection.
UConn Early College Experience (ECE) & Academic Expansion – Nearly a decade ago, we launched our ECE program, giving students the opportunity to take college-level courses and challenge themselves academically. We also expanded our offerings in science, computer science, art, and music.
Social Work Internship Program – We welcomed aspiring clinicians from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, giving them hands-on experience with Spire’s life coach model, supporting our students and families, and helping to shape the next generation of school social workers.
School Spirit & Community Growth – Our students chose the phoenix as their school mascot, and the staff and students worked together to bring it to life through student-designed annual yearbook covers, spirit gear, merchandise, and community pride.
Student Body Growth – Starting with just seven students, we’ve grown to more than 60, building the vibrant, connected community our students were seeking.
My departure is not an ending, but an exciting new opportunity for Spire to continue to grow. In late August, Thomas Laudadio, a seasoned clinician and educational leader, will step into the role of Chief Administrator & Executive Director.
Tom’s student-centered philosophy, commitment to inclusive school culture, and deep understanding of therapeutic education models will ensure continuity of programming and support for our students and families. I look forward to working with him through this transition, and I am confident he will build on our mission while providing thoughtful leadership through each stage of a student’s journey.
To our families, district partners, and staff that I have had the deep honor and privilege to work with over the past nearly 20 years, thank you. Your trust, collaboration, and belief in our mission have made this productive and rewarding journey possible.
With warmth and gratitude,
Tammy Moscrip, PhD, LCSW
Chief Administrator & Executive Director (through August 29th 2025)
